The  23 teams of the MLS soccer league play 34 matches during MLS’s regular season which runs from March to October with the winner being awarded the Supporter’s Shield. Through November and December, the 6 highest-placed teams from the Eastern Conference and Western Conference battle head-to-head in the postseason MLS Cup Playoffs that culminate in the championship game, the MLS Cup.
