This is my neighbour, Don. Well, this was Don as a Chicago teen in 1969 anyway. I restored this photo for him and I'm excited to share it's story.
"When I turned 16, I was a Chicago Park District lifeguard on the beaches of Chicago. I used my earnings that summer to buy this used 175cc bike. Being under 18, my drivers license only allowed 150cc's. Later, I sold it to purchase a ring for my high school sweetheart but still had to borrow twenty dollars from her to buy it! In 2023, we passed our 50th year of marriage, thus I have paid her back the twenty dollars many times since. My mom took this photo with her kodak instamatic a few months after I turned 17."
